Belle Vue Grand National. After winning the Semi Final, the coin toss for Pole Position come World Final and the meeting Final, it was 259 Paul Hines who leads the pack away.. There was some great racing action between 4 Dan Johnson and 16 Matt Newson, with Newson looking good to take a win, and possibly make up for his early exit of the Semi Final. But Newson was to fall foul of a dirty, cowardly move by 51 Dylan Williams-Maynard.. Maynard, a lap down on leading Newson, sat biding his time, waiting for Newson to pass, at which point, Maynard drove into Newson, ending his race and hopes of taking the win. Maynard felt he owed Newson, but its just a pity he couldn't do it on the racing lap, rather than when being a lap down. I for one hope that Newson repays the compliment, and i'm also there to catch it :o) Come on Matt you can do it :o)
This left Johnson in front, but 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr ws reeling in the youngster in the closing stages.. Wainman was to make his move in the last bend, punting his rival out wide, leaving himself with a clear run to take the flag.
