The universe was formed 13.8 billion years ago by the Big Bang
The Earth was formed 4.5 billion years ago
So scientifically the verse is incorrect

[006:042] Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]). And We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health (with calamities) so that they might humble themselves (believe with humility). [006:043] When Our torment reached them, why then did they not humble themselves (believe with humility)? But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitân (Satan) made fair-seeming to them that which they used to do.

And also it perfectly answers the question why Israel has the world's highest number of scientific publications per capita, while the arab neighbors are concentrating on shouting and waving hands and blowing themselves up, and their economy is centered around highly advanced sandal making industry.
Thanks for clearing it all out. After this I am surely likely to convert to islam real soon.

to have some advanced technology doesn't mean that you have the right religion if that was the standard then japan is the right religion ppl thats not the standard and for Arabs being these way is because most Arabs don't follow the teachings of Islam completely but when we was following it right we had the superiority in everything

It is right now in the news that the infidel Phoenix probe, sent to Mars by the infidel USA, is right now taking samples of the Mars soil.
You may have seen this on your infidel computer or your infidel television set.
Why is it that muslims who are supposedly living according to allah's will, are a thousand years behind the west in science and technology, and very poor and backward?
Why is it that the most advanced piece of equipment they can manufacture on their own is a pot and a sandal?

When Our Torment reached them, why then did they not believe with humility? But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitân (Satan) made fairseeming to them that which they used to do.
So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them to punishment, and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows.
