Known as one of the best catchers of his time, Gary was elected to HOF in 2003 as a Montreal Expo and although he was a big part of the Mets' championship victory in 1986, he was and still remains the greatest Expos player ever.

Popular with the Montreal crowd to a degree an athlete today would certainly envy, he is probably only second to hockey legend Maurice Richard in terms of popularity when it comes to sports personalities in the province of Quebec and even beyond. Gary has had a strong impact on the culture of his time and is now and forever a solid local staple.

So here he is ladies and gents:
Le receveur, the catcher, le numéro 8, number 8, GARY CARTER!

Please note that I don't own the copyrights on these pics and song.

Enjoy.

  • Yet another masterpiece...this one brought a tear to my eye....love your choice of music on your videos as well......will miss Gary

  • @gospos1 Thanks gospos1. If only there was a way to relive it all.

Check out the latest vid I uploaded. Gary's the focus of this one also.

  • A magnificent and moving tribute. I saw Gary play hundreds of games in Mtl. No one played harder, and he did so at the hardest position. He was quick like a cat around the plate and even raced down the line on grounders to back up firstbase, and did so on cement like turf. He caught 150 GAMES PER YEAR several times in Montreal - incredible given how hard and hurt he played for us. I`m convinced his career was shortened due to the supreme extra effort he gave to Mtl. Thanks Gary, RIP.

  • @donlittle7 It's absolutely true. He'd never shy away from a collision at the plate that he knew was inevitable and sometimes with guys the size of Dave Parker which you could pretty much describe as a fridge coming down your way from a flight of stairs. As a kid/young teen back then, I hadn't reach the age of fully understanding the kind of sacrifice it meant for a ballplayer to do these kinds of things. He'd never return to the dugout with the tank half full.

  • Excellent Job ! thank you very much for sharing

  • @lebiz58 Merci lebiz. Je prépare un autre vidéo pour les prochains jours. J'ai ramassé sur le net plusieurs belles photos du Kid qui nous a fait vivre de beaux souvenirs...

  • I was 7 years old when the Mets won in '86, Gary was the backbone of that team, he always played hard and swung hard, RIP #8

  • If Ernie Banks was Mr Cub, then Gary Carter was Mr Expo.

Merci pour les bons souvenirs, Gary.

    RIP.

  • That was baseball, Gary was a great baseball player and person. The pictures of him guarding home plate and sliding into bases are legendary. We will never forget you Gary!
