A note about the choreography (Eden's Remarks):

Most of the choreography for this performance was taken from pieces for classes I taught in the past and revived from videos of old performances. Exceptions are the choreography for Ice Ice Baby and Brian's solo, which were created specifically for this class, Airplanes, which was choreographed by my co-teacher (Lingerr Senghor) of the dance class I taught this past summer, and Poison, choreographed by Norma Perez, who graciously allowed us to use her choreography after we saw a video of her class doing the dance on Youtube.

The Company:

Brian Kraemer is a senior who has been dancing at New School for four years in both classes and dance club. He loves to freestyle hip hop and break-dancing and he does gymnastics in his spare time.

Claudia Min is coming back to dance after a several-year break. Her past experience in dance includes several years of dance team in middle school.

Julie Cho is coming back to dance after a several-year break. As you will see, it doesn't look like she ever stopped

Lilah Perry has been dancing for many years. Besides dancing at the New School for the past three years in both class and dance club, she has taken ballet and modern classes outside of school.

Maggie Miller has been dancing at the New School for three years in both classes and dance club. She has taken hip hop classes outside of school and loves to break-dance. This year she is making a valiant attempt at pushing her limits with the ballet.

Maren Berg has been dancing "since she was in the womb." This is her first time dancing at the New School. While Maren's favorite dance styles are Lyrical and Ballet, she takes every available opportunity to shake to the hip hop music.

Marguerite Yuan loves to dance, though before this class she had never taken lessons. She worked extra hard to keep up with the veterans and ended up remembering the details when her peers did not!

Rayoung Yun has been dancing for years. She was in the class that premiered the Glory and First Step dances two years ago and in middle school she choreographed and danced on a well-respected team.

Riki Perlik developed her passion for dance last fall and pleaded to be allowed to try out for this advanced class. She worked her tail off to develop skills in all areas of dance and catch up to the veterans.

Special thanks to...
Virginia Palmer-Fuechsel for helping coordinate the technical aspect of the show, Joanna Cole for doing the brunt of the work on the Zoot Suit Riot skirts, letting us borrow a bunch of tank tops and formatting the program, and John Potter for designing some beautiful posters for us last minute.
