A look at EVERY SINGLE title page from the following series, which are Rumiko Takahashi's main Shonen Sunday series from 1978 to 2008:

Urusei Yatsura
366 Chapters
1978-1987

Ranma ½
407 Chapters
1987-1996

Inu-Yasha
558 Chapters
1996-2008

Be sure to click on the HD button! This video looks a LOT better that way! This video is not representative of everything that Takahashi has done, but just the three biggest, longest series that she's worked on in the last 30 years. These three series were chosen because (especially when when lined up together) they show off just how drastically Takahashi-san's art style has changed over a period of 30 years, and they all lead into each other perfectly (since as soon as one ends, another begins).

Anywho, be sure to check out Rumiko Takahashi's next major Shonen Sunday series, "Kyokai no Rinne"! In the U.S., it's been licensed to be shown online here: www.therumicworld.com, and I'm sure volume one will be out in stores pretty soon, too!

  • Just so people know: Even though I consider Maison Ikkoku her best written work with the most well-developed romance, there's a few reasons it's not included. It was run in Big Comic Spirits, rather than Shonen Sunday (which is what I was sticking to). Also, Takahashi was working on it and Urusei Yatsura at the same time, so to include it would wreck the accurate display of her art style's natural evolution, and I didn't wanna mix UY and MI into a single chunk, as both deserve to be seperate.

  • What are the names of the three songs in this video?

  • @estrella15jbc "Ai Wa Boomerang" by Yuuko Matsutani, "Koi da! Panic!" by YAWMIN (aka Yoko Takahashi), and "Angelus" by Hitomi Shimatani.

  • a very cool vid!

i personally like the way her newer work looks, tho that doesn't mean i dont like her old one ^^

but why were some of the inuyasha ones repeated?? O.o

  • @inunekochan None of them were repeated, it's just that a lot of them look similar.

  • My favourite is Ranma 1/2 hands down.

  • Yeah, Takashi's older artwork is more charming and has a lot of personality, but most people wouldn't agree because they just don't like it and find it old (of course). Oh well.

  • Inuyasha and Ranma for Life!!!

  • Hapo Five Yen Satsu!!!

  • How come these text inhanced things always find the most interesting spot to put up there link,

  • Then other artists started coppying her facial proportions, the animators put that form into anime for versions of the mangas and by the 90's it was the defualt style and others ran away with it from there

  • There's a big shift in her style around 1982, I think she was the first artist to draw in the modern style we all think of when we think of anime,

  • Inuyasha C;

  • RAMNA 1/2 FOREVER!
