It's not really a secret. It's just how the game engine works in saving space while rendering. It's called a Plane Marker. Usually, they hide walls of these 'sheets' inside buildings or in this case, map them to an object. It's so that it won't render that isn't exactly being looked at to begin with. Think, being inside a house (which is marked with these Plane Markers). You're not able to see anything outside unless you look through a window; so why render when you're wasting processing power?
