Orchestre Radio-Lyrique, dir. Tony Aubin, 1961.

The picture shows the gorgeous Hedy Lamarr as Dalila and Victor Mature as Samson (Cecil B. DeMille, 1949)

  • The role is actually written for a mezzo soprano voice. Nevertheless, a dramatic soprano, with such an outstanding voice, likeJanine Capderou’s, can sing it as well.

Thank you, Dear Julien. Very interesting recordings indeed!

  • What a gorgeous voice! Aubin could have taken it a little slower- just to give Caperdou a little more space to caress the phases which she is clearly doing. But this is a great recording- how do you find these superb recordings! How I would have loved to have heard her live as Dalila! Her Amour viens aider ma faiblesse would have been titanic with that voice!
