The detours continued for BNSF off of Montana's Hi-Line due to the rising Souris River at Minot, ND. The day started off with a Q-train at Laurel and ended with a grain train out at Columbus. Here is the highlights of 6/25/2011.

Train #1: Q-CHCSSE9-23, a guaranteed Chicago (Ciecro Yard) to South Seattle intermodal, BNSF 4846 West. Time: 7:22 A.M. Location: Greycliff, MT @ MP 69.54, MRL 2nd Subdivision. Power: BNSF C44-9W 4846, BNSF C44-9W 5463, BNSF C44-9W 1086, BNSF C44-9W 4850.

Train #2: S-TACCHC9-24, stacks Tacoma to Chicago (Ciecro Yard), BNSF 4733 East. Time: 9:46 A.M. Location: Greycliff, MT @ MP 69.54, MRL 2nd Subdivision. Power: BNSF C44-9W 4733, BNSF C44-9W 700, BNSF (ex-ATSF) 635.

Train #3: Loaded Grain, BNSF 7478 West. Time: 11:08 A.M. Location: Columbus, MT @ MP 42.32 MRL 2nd Subdivision. Power: BNSF ES44DC 7478, BNSF C44-9W 4059, BNSF ES44DC 7291 (DPU).

Train #4: H-NTWPAS9-22, High Priority manifest from Northtown (Minneapolis) to Pasco. Time: 11:52 A.M. Location: Spurling, MT @ MP 17.75, MRL 2nd Subdivision. Power: BNSF ES44C4 6706, BNSF ES44DC 7552, BNSF C44-9W 4712 (DPU).

Train #5: Stack Train. Time: 7:57 P.M. Location: Columbus, MT @ MP 42.32, MRL 2nd Subdivision. Power: BNSF C44-9W 4308, BNSF C44-9W 5376, BNSF C44-9W 5442 (DPU), BNSF C44-9W 721 (DPU).

  • It would be interesting to know how MRL is handling the additional crews required to run these trains. I suspect that the boards are turning rather quickly. Yes, great video from Big Sky!
