This goes to everything actually. At the beginning one learns fast, and we improve dramatically up till a certain point where we see that it's so hard to go up a level. It's so easy to give up at this stage and it seems to be impossible to improve or learn more. This can really stop ppl from loving the game. Thanks Majnu, one of the best videos on chess ever!

Excellent as usual, thanks very much.

Thanks for very good advice.

I've noticed recently that I no longer make half as much mistakes as I used to. You are correct about learning. We need patience. I don't enter every game with the desire to win, sometimes I am just interested in solving problems created on the board.

just ask what you did wrong... losing in some ways helps you learn more than winning
-
combination of your advice and majnu's advice is very helpful to me......but how do i cope with losing...no one likes to lose and wat does one do/say to himself after he/she loses....how do i make that pain go away or even better, prevent the pain when i lose?

I believe that adults have many problems in learning that children just dont. PRIDE, EGO, want to improve FAST (who doest?). Kids are carefree, not as much pressure. It is very frustrating being 22 and having to START learning, but i have no choice, either learn it right, or waste time losing games. This video is awesome because it gives those who are tired of studying, ready to quit some hope. KEEP STUDYING AND YOU WILL GET BETTER.Sure Magnus puts us all to shame but thats his LIFE!

Agree 110%. I have improved in the last 6 months, but just recently a steady higher level of play. I am studying books, and watching ICC's game of the day/week. Though i can not understand ALL details of the GM games, i find it VERY helpful. About a year ago i was having touble with 1500 players. Now im beating 2000 rated players and giving a master very competitive games (have not beat him though I would like to point out a few "pointers" that i believe will help ANYONE.continue on next comment
