Earth Hour 2009 on Long Island, NY

Last year I missed Earth Hour but made up for it a few weeks later during Earth Day basically doing the same drill. This year I remembered in time and took place in it by turning off my lights/electronics & doing the same thing I did last year, go out to the state park near by. I was hoping to see 1) more stars then usual, and 2) a difference when the lights went out in NYC, but unfortunatly I didn't see either. There was a cloud cover and I saw, after running to the park (left too late) no change before/during/after Earth Hour in terms of the light pollution. :(

I am from The Bronx and we saw a stormfront from Long Island. I was overlooking the Long Island Sound.

Yeah actually on the way back it started to sprinkle a little. I had observed it looking darker towards the south shore from where I was. I thought it was less lighting there but in hindsight I think it was the storm coming towards me.

it's too bad that a lot of people didn't participate. my neighbours houses were lit like xmas trees... one house had EVERY light on? seriously, very annoying how some people are STILL ignorant.

Yeah. I left all my lights on did a couple loads of laundry, played a few video games. It was great.
