Long Monday - John Prine cover

"Long Monday" is the third track on John Prine's fabulous 2005 "Fair & Square" CD. I used a DigiTech Vocalist Live 4 unit to create the female harmonies.

This recently-purchased DigiTech unit produces multitudes of very impressive harmonies- there are fifty pre-set harmony types to choose from. I'll need to experiment with the way I record videos using this unit, because it sounds much better "live" than it does in this video.

Great cover. I do an annual JohnPrine Tribute gig as part of The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festivel (May) in Belfast N Ireland with my band Illegal Smile. Unfortunately there is no video coverage. Appreciate anything to do with JP. Again well done.

Thanks Lee, but I'm very reluctant to come across as any sort of guitar expert because I'm certainly not one.

This song is G, C and D7. He makes use of his left hand pinky while playing the G and the C chords: B string 3rd fret for the G, high E string 3rd fret for the C chord.

Play slowly at first and listen to the CD for reference, and you'll find that you can work it out by ear. Trust me on that. Then practice it, keeping that thumb going with the beat.
