@TiconderogaX I agree, hardcore liberals like to think of themselves as tolerant, however they seem to create a dogma of tolerance and are ironically intolerant of anyone who doesn't think like them.
Equally however, conservatives are idealistic and think their ideas can't be improved upon, thinking anyone who perceives unfairness in their ideas are, either, being unfair themselves, not trying hard enough to make them fair, or being unrealistic.
@ec123456789able I'm glad you know the difference between a liberal and a libertarian (and I'm not being sarcastic). I'm all for people having their own beliefs and views, but most hard core liberals, are simply misinformed. After all the liberal media rules over the simple minds.
@TheCatsLastWord I agree. People have this mentality of ''conservative vs liberal'' but in reality it isn't that simple.
Ascribing to any belief with complete totality is always going to lead to delusion, resistance to logic, and intellectual dishonesty.
I myself stopped calling myself a liberal some months ago, I call myself a libertarian now, however even then, I don't ascribe to all libertarian doctrine, I am just more libertarian than anything else.
Popular opinion should not be a part of the debate on issues like Proposition 8. That's like saying that "well the popular opinion is that jews should be kicked out so let's leave it at that."
It was determined by a court of law to be Unconstitutional, and that's the way it should be. Just my two cents.

I am certainly not conservative either.
