Erard Gothic - Sad Marguerite at the Spinning Wheel - Alfred Zabel.
Played by internationally known harpist, David Watkins, who is the Curator of the Clive Morley Collection of Harp Music and Antique Harps. Thanks to David's expertise and ongoing research, the collection is proving to be a valuable resource to anyone studying the harp.
This harp in gothic style bears the signature Sebastian and Pierre Erard's, 18 Great Marlborough Street, London, No 5358 on the brass neck plate. A double action pedal harp, the instrument originally had eight pedals. Both the eighth pedal and the shutters that once filled the back of the harp body are now missing.
This harp has been fully restored to museum quality, with a lavish black and gold finish. It is playable to recital standard.
