Inexpensive configuration of muzzle crowning professional toolkit, intended for use on military and commerical rifles in military calibers, by gun owners and hobby gunsmiths. Offered with single expandable pilot, which will typically work for numerous calibers with close dimensions, for example, 7.5 mm caliber pilot, generally intended for servicing any .30 cal. firearms, will work for any calibers from 7.5 mm to 7.7 mm. Reduced number of components in comparison with professional toolkit makes this particular offering an attractive option for gunowners interested in doing precision muzzle crowning by themselves. Standard toolkit configuration includes one expandable pilot of customer choice, eleven degree target crown cutter, universal driving adapter and ball-end hex bit to use with electric power screwdriver. Recommended screwdriver speed range is 90-230 rpm. Delivers fast, accurate and chatter-free muzzle crowning for all barrels, including the ones with chrome-lined bores, often found on modern military riifles. Video also shows how ro crown pistol barrels and how to polish muzzle crowns, if desired. No firearm disassembly is required for muzzle crowning and no additional equipment and special skills are needed to use these tools. Crowning cutters use very long lasting serrated carbide inserts, which are also easily replaceable and, if needed, adjustable to match very large barrel O.D.s For more information, contact Dave Manson Precision Reamers (810-953-0732, www.mansonreamers.com) or visit Borka Tools website (www.borkatools.com). Video is produced in cooperation with Borka Tools, division of Borka Enterprises, Farmington Hills, Michigan.

  • If you crown a threaded barrel...it won't change the timing on the threads?

  • @clap5 If you mean muzzle brake orientation, it depends if muzzle brake, when installed, rests against the muzzle end of the barrel or the shoulder behing the thread. If it uses muzzle end, orientation may be affected, but you can always remove enough material from the muzzle to get the same timining (orientation) for the muzzle brake.

  • Where is this kit available? I cannot see it in your catalog or at Brownells. Thanks.

  • @olyinaz , Please call 1-810-953-0732, as advised at the end of this video.

  • I have that exact machinist's tool box. I got it from my Grandpa. He worked for Boeing during the war and then work for consolidated/convair/general dynamics after the war as a machinist. I got it from him after he passed away.

  • @TheJWalshVlog A poorly cut/uneven crown can allow gas to escape around one side of the bullet before the other which can push the bullets inconsistently, or destabilize them all together, and really hurt accuracy.

  • so if i decide to cut down my 91 30 is this kit enough to make a brand new crown

  • @TheJWalshVlog I understand where you are coming from. i am not a gunsmith either, but the way i understand it is roughly as follows.. The crown on the rifle affects the bullet even AFTER it has left the barrel. Obviously not for very far out of the barrel, but it is to direct the gases leaving the barrel in a certain way to not create weird vacuums or high pressure gases which would push the bullet off center in one way or another.. Hopefully that makes sense..

  • i am not experianced in any way with gunsmithing but im curious about why all these angles are vital to accuracy and how it effects the projectiles trojectory , spin and angle when leaving the muzzle of a weapon ?

can someone explain this please ?

  • @Oristep yea...I think i'd rather have something like that professionally done.

  • I've used this device on three rifles thus far and it works absolutely perfectly and as advertised. It is an OUTSTANDING product!

  • while a very nice kit, I use the Brownells crowning tool with a cordless drill and cheap pilots. works perfectly, and I have done 12 this month already (not including the ones in the past). it's not nearly as pretty of a tool, but the performance is spot on, and and very affordable allowing for a quick return on investment. had this kit been in my price range I would have recommended it to my 12k members due to the replaceable carbides.
