One of American Kenpo's most popular techniques known generally as 'Snapping Twig' but we call 'Snapping Arm'. Barry Barker demonstrating technique on student Johnny Weaver. This sample is from our Purple Belt DVD.
@masterjosue24 I must say that I have a lot of regard for Kenpo, I think it is a very dynamic and progressive art, but I must disagree with you. I have been in security work and psychiatric nursing for many years, been pushed in provacation numerous times and although I do agree that a push can lead to a serious conflict, I have found many times that verbal de-escalation or a brush and lock is enough, unless a knife comes out. In my job ending a conflict using resonable force is a must.
Foolish to teach such a dangerous response to a push on the chest. Breaking or even just badly straining the elbow with the first strike would already be considered excessive force and land you in court or jail.

@susanaandsam Pushing in chest always end on serious fights, so I'd think this technique is proper to put a quick end to a conflict
