  • It is possible to replace a 7200rpm 500GB sata for a 2TB one? Will it work properly?

  • @Superluro Yes, absolutely - that's what I did here. Been working fine here, after upgrading to a 2TB 7200 Enterprise class SATA drive. In other words, keep the enclosure, and swap the drive, just like Lacie does, when they upgrade to a different internal Hard Drive.

  • focus!!!!!?????

  • @Thecricster the limitations of the Flip Mino in close combat became apparent. Sorry :)

  • Why did u pick a hitachi over a seagate? I understand that the seagate's are actually better.

  • @ebbulk In this case I picked an Enterprise 5 Platter design HArd Drive - which is a lot more reliable / better than a Seagate or Hitachi consumer drive (costs a lot more). As for consumer drives, check reviews of individual drives these days. No one manufacturer is "better" - it often depends on which model you look at. Example - i found out (speed tests) that my Hitachi 5400 laptop drive, is a lot faster than my new Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm laptop replacement drive in Mac Book Pro.

  • I tried doing this with a seagate barracuda 3TB 7200 RPM (Model: STBD3000100) drive but it only came up as a 801GB.

I noticed that the buffer is 64MB vs 32MB on the one you used. Can that be the problem?

Is 2TB the max that this lacie will support?

    Thanks for your help...
