This is Eddie doing his solo from the very first Van Halen tour.It's the oldest footage I've ever seen of them.BADASS!!

haha... yeah anyone who would put Page's playing and tone on par with Eddie's is listening to something other than the guitar playing itself. Emotion and belief plays a strong role in people's opinions!

I was at the superdome New orleans saw VH with the stones and doobie bros..at that time i had never heard of vh,,being a guitarist i was totally blown away watchin eddie ,,we were approx 15" away from the stage..This was in 1978 I had just turned 19 and was legal drinkin age ,,man alls I can say is wow,wow,wow saw them again in 2007 in Little Rock and eddie still has that edge,,P.S. The Stones were drunk and out of tune I left after 2 songs

I was fortunate to be attending that night in Selland Arena in Fresno, California in September, 1978 (when this video was shot). They opened for Black Sabbath and blew them off the stage! Ozzy was kicked out of BS shortly thereafter.
