As the global recession continues and forces millions more people into poverty, southwest Washingtonians are fired up about making our foreign aid more effective at reducing hunger and poverty. At the Vancouver Peace and Justice Fair on Saturday, September 12, many residents of Vancouver stopped by the Bread for the World booth to ask Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray to co-sponsor the bipartisan Foreign Assistance Revitalization and Accountability Act of 2009 (S. 1524). The bill would begin the process of reforming foreign aid by revitalizing USAID and affirming the U.S. committment to promote global development.
