It isn't the boy alone who's been troubled by this spirit, but the granmother also, who's clearly distressed by these events. I believe them and, based on my own experiences, believe in the reality of spirits or ghosts. We could understand more about this story if they talked more about the young boy who died four years ago: how he died, what he was like before he died, and what kind of friendship both boys had etc. We'd get a better picture why this boy's been haunted in this way.
