  • Sad to see the state of english culture & heritage reduced to a number of old folks doing these dances.

  • @tvrulesnation Not very old!

  • Not Winston Churchill - Sir Arnold Bax wrote: "One should try everything once except incest and folk-dancing" in his book "Farewell my Youth" (1945).

  • I stand corrected. But surely even incest can't be as bad as this most undignified behavior.

No wonder the Irish refuse to be ruled by a nation that tried to make Morris dancing a part of their heritage as well.

  • Shame you don't like Morris dancers - you have some excellent films on your favourites.

  • If you see a morris dancer do not approach, i repeat DO NOT APPROACH. Commonly found in the Diss area, this metrosexual clan of outdated traditionalists can consume your mind and your soul. Be safe, keep your distance and they will fade in numbers, until Diss streets are free to walk once more.

  • I used to know a bloke called Morris but he couldnt dance!

  • @unomnacajit11 Ye'r right! :)

  • This is an ancient pre-christian Romanian dance brought to Britain by Dacians incorporated in Roman legions. Search for "Calusari Dance" to see the original version :)))

  • I'm from the USA, and I love it! I also love BMW's, rap, and other diverse things. Things like this really do help us stay cultured and keep our minds open. I hope we never become so close minded that the world only has one culture. I heard this sung (and saw it danced to) for the first time on "Larkrise to Candleford" and it was one of the most sincere and lovely things I've ever seen. If only we were all so civil. I don't care if people make fun of it. I love it and I'm not ashamed.

  • @tvrulesnation You're wrong, there are quite a few younger Morris dancers.

  • @herringfly "You nearly made me spill my porridge" :) Brilliant!

  • @zoerimmer

What are ye talking about the people in this video are at least 40+?

Whilst in my opinion morris dancing & english folk music seems quite bland & boring compared to say the scots/welsh/irish. Its still sad to see the english so unaware of their culture, i always wondered if the english even had folk music as i'm a fan of ''world'' styles yet live just across the sea (ireland) & have never heard it when in England

  • Altough it's boring like fuck, but I love to watch this shit over and over again...I specifically like the Morris Dance Montage/compilation thing in Four's video "as serious as your life",fucking major shit....sick shit ,5 stars..:-)

  • Biggamac

Wimps indeed!? You nearly made me spill my porridge, sir!

Good to see people preserving their cultural heritage in Britain, whether it's sword dancing, morris dancing, brass bands or Welsh male voice choirs. It's what makes travelling down south interesting - so many different traditions in a not very big country.

Pity the popular British media are so obsessed with muticulturalism but don't give much space to our own.
