  • it affects how science will be taught in schools! this is probably the most important scientific experiment of all time

  • I personally think the funding of bombs pointless too, having said that the money on the LHC could have been spent on the military equipment such as Armour, New weapons, food and supplies... the money being spent on this thing could be used on something more usefull such as pot holes in roads, the NHS, Police service ect.. this is a complete waste of resources, but on the other hand you could say more money is going into bankers pockets..... my personal is, it is a waste of resouces.

  • ack typo! Curse my lack of proof reading before posting. That should read, "... at least you're..."

  • I personally find that to be short sighted. If we limit our understanding of the natural world, than we ultimately limit our ability for progess. However, at least you our pro supporting research funding that you find pointless over funding more bombs. I can at least appreciate that.

  • Sorry, but i don`t see the points in finding out what made this planet.... the only thing i can see happening is a giant sign saying round 2.

  • @HeavyWeightGunner

Even if research were to do nothing but add to our knowledge base it would still be benefiting society. You cannot disreguard scientific inquiry so haphazardly. Just because you are not seeing an immediate benefit does not mean it is a waste of time or money. I am all for things with an overt benefit to society as a whole, such as medical research. However, most of that sort of research is based off of more general science.

  • Why even riskt it?

  • No mate not research, this fucking research.... read up mate i had an arguement with a guy who said exactly the same crap.... all research are you blind. LHC is a waste of money and time.... 3 things can happen; 1 - it works and a massive sign comes up saying level 2; 2 - it creates a massive hole were switzerland and france use to be; 3 - it will work and contribute nothing to actualy society eg. no one is effected by this apart from scientists.

  • How can you reap the benefits of scientific inquiry (your computer among other things), and still imply that funding research is a waste of money?

  • Fine...fuck off then for your stupid dumbshit question in the first place! I didnt see the replies asswhipe!
