Bicycle Benefits gets even better with the addition of some of the finest cultural institutions in the country, including the second oldest chamber music society in the world: The Buffalo Chamber Music Society.

The Buffalo Chamber Music Society's 2011/2012 season opens on October 4th with a performance by the American String Quartet. Internationally recognized as one of the world's foremost quartets, the American String Quartet celebrates its 36th anniversary this season.




The season will include three debut performances on our series; Trio Solisti, hailed as "The most exciting piano trio in America" by The New Yorker Magazine; the Cecilia String Quartet, winners of the 2010 Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Johannes Quartet which brings together the winner of the Paganini Violin Competition, a Concert Artists Guild Competition winner, the principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.




Returning to our series for encore performances will be the Jerusalem Quartet, four young musicians based in Israel and the Brentano Quartet, winners of numerous awards and first ever Quartet-in-Residence at Princeton University. Musicians From Marlboro, an annual event on our series, completes the seven concert series.




The 2011-2012 season also includes the 11th year of three free Gift to the Community recitals featuring Young Concert Artists International Auditions First Prize Winners. This season's performers include pianist Benjamin Moser, clarinetist Narek Arutyunian and mezzo soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano.




The series of 7 concerts are Tuesday evenings at 8 pm and are preceded by a "Chat with the Artists" hosted by WNED's Peter Hall at 7:15 pm. The Gift to the Community concerts are Sundays at 3 pm. All concerts are performed in Kleinhans Music Hall's Mary Seaton Room.
