Beastie Boys will be boys!

Interviewing the Beastie Boys when they are feeling silly is a bit like trying to staple Jell-O to the wall: the harder you try to nail them down, the more slippery and impossible they become. While in Toronto promoting their new live DVD, Awesome...I Fuckin' Shot That!, which includes concert footage shot by 50 audience members on Hi-8 cameras plus heaps of extras footage, the A.D.D.-riddled threesome were in prime wacky form, proving that even if they are in their 40s, they can still act like 16-year-old smart-ass Beastie Boys.

They were doing that way before Hello Nasty. I still remember when Licensed to Ill had been released and a spotlight on them on Rolling Stones magazine, myself not being from New York city, and not really knowing anything about them their interviews were bizarre and I couldn't realize they were bullshitting the interviewer and the reader the whole entire time.

At some point in their career, I think it must have been around the Hello Nasty time, the Beasties just decided that rather than interviewers manipulating them and misquoting them they would just fuck with the interviewers instead and control the conversation themselves. I guess they were also dead bored with the same old questions and decided to make interviews interesting for themselves again. I haven't seen a serious interview with them in around 6 or 7 years.
