On Friday May 28, 2010, this Cobra and Sea Knight flew into the fields of Massapequa High School in Massapequa, NY for what was billed as a Marine Air-Ground Task Force Demonstration at the high school. I had arrived too late for the helicopters' arrival due to getting a late start to the day and traffic on the Belt Parkway. By the time I had arrived, the helicopters were opened up and the Marines on site were giving tours of the helicopters to the students there, along with several Marines in full dress uniform giving out information on possibly joining the Marine Corps. The helicopters then departed the high school after staying for about ninety minutes and performed one pass before departing out to their next event.

As I stated, this was billed out to be a MAGTF demonstration, and I had no idea what to expect. This video shows the two helicopters starting up as well as departing the area. According to one of my friends, who I mentioned the event to, there was no MAGTF demonstration, and we agreed that this was simply a recruiting tool for the Marines, who were in town as part of the "Raid New York" events coinciding with New York City's Fleet Week events. The Fleet Week events unrelated to the airshow going on in nearby Jones Beach, which was the reason I drove up to Long Island.

If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • the beset we get at our high school... umm pretty much nothing. if we want, we can go to the elementary school's carnival and watch the MD-500E that lands there... oo ah.

  • @Legendary588 When I was in the fifth grade we had a Cobra land at my school. That was about the highlight of my elementary school years....

  • @amtrak101 I watched it again right after I posted that comment and just went "im such a dumbass"

  • @battleguy500 This is not an AH-1Z. The Viper has a four bladed main rotor; this has a two blade.

  • That is not an AH-1w Cobra, that is actually the newer version called the AH-1z Viper

  • I love these things. ive been to one of the shows that these guys do, both in eisnhower park and new jersey. GO TO NJ, nice and empty, and they bring the two cobras, and the comanche. you get to explore all three, as well if your lucky they will bring over the antiqe helicopter, that thing knows how to ROAR. all you miss in eisnhower park is the Osprey, which although very imressive is NOT worth the crowds. unless you just watch it go and then leave. but these guys are AWESOME. i love them! XD
