This show was our sweat and blood....both literally and metaphorically speaking. Quiet a lot of blood was spilled both by the dancers and engineers (heard the trees had a taste for blood). Haha...anyway, it was all worth it!! After so many months of practise, we shone brighter than almost everyone else that day!! Our 5 minutes of glory, like Leo said, pride of a lifetime!
Between the blind forces of Nature and Technology, we believe that humanity must act as the mediating party, bringing into the equation passion, spirit, and the hope of redemption. Just as our dance brings together elements from Asian contemporary and hip-hop, we extend the possibility of an eventual harmony between Man, Nature and Technology.
From the industrial hell of Tolkien's Isengard to the post-Apocalyptic wasteland of The Matrix, technology has almost always been portrayed as an evil destroyer of nature and humanity. Our performance this year revolves around a little girl who finds herself in a strange and enchanted land, pursued by an evil wizard and his minions; in this land where Nature and Technology are once again in conflict, we ask the question -- must it always be either one or the other?
