farcry2 pentium 4 3.0ghz 1gb DDR2 9400gt

FC2 playing on my machine on all mediums with shadows on low.

my specs are: pentium 4 3.0ghz HT 1gb DDR2 9400gt

With fraps: 18-24fps
Without fraps: 20-40fps

runs decent, not the best.

Needs a new processor, more ram coming this week.

how can this be possible? the MINIMUM system requirements say you need p4 3.2ghz! And if you overclocked it, can someone please send me a link on how, because i have that same processor. when i google how to overclock it, people say that you can't overclock anything made by intel. any answers would be appritiated.

You can't overclock it. Just because it's under the minimum specs doesn't mean the CPU won't run the game at all. At no point will a cpu say "hey this game isn't going to run well, so i refuse."

it runs like it runs, 200mhz isn't a whole bunch off of the minimum anyways.

i play the game on everything at high except real tree,physics and fire on very high.Shadows on low,ambient occlusion on medium,HDR turned off. Bloom-on.

@siriusdarkstar i know, far cry 2 is a good game, but for a playstation 4-like generation consoles :)

Next gen, real old-school next-gen is all the games that run from 2004 to early 2006. In 2007, with the arrival of windows vista, directx 10 appeared. Next gen in pcs became supermegaextraultrapostnext-ge­n. The same gap you would see from a, let's say, super nintendo to a dreamcast.

From a xbox 360 point of view, almost nothing happened, but in pcs it was simply the end of next gen :P

@enevus83 neah, farcry is a game in it's own right, but saying that this is not a game in 2010.. that's kinda.. weird. my old 8800 GTS i had in 2007 had pretty good results here. I wont even talk about the fps i get , think dual 5970 in cross x and that's enough :)

How can it be? i have your almost very same system specs and i play it at 10 fps when all is nice! the maximum moments were at 20 fps. as if there was fraps on.

People, far cry 2 is a non-game. for a next gen graphics' game, requirements would be lower, MUCH lower.

However, try to add the -onethread command into the command line (icon properties), this should help to smooth the framerate a littly bit.

i really want to know how do you obtain 40 fps... that's a legend for my rig.
