The King of Thailand

One of the most surprising things when you arrive in Thailand is seeing how much every thai people love their king, who has been in place for over 60 years.

This is just an example, but you can see many, many, many pictures of him or symbols of royalty in restaurants, cinema, everywhere...

Many people wear a yellow shirt on mondays for the king and some wear an orange plastic around the wrist everyday with "long live the king" written on it.

A government is like a parent. They guide their children to morality and to become good citizens of their country. It is the right of every parent to turn off the TV when the show is offensive and not good for the moral formation of their children. ISn't that the same with the government of Thailand?Freedom is good but not to the point of offending people.Everything should be done in the grounds of respect! I'm a Filipino.

A government is not like a parent, that's your conception of it. I surely will never agree with anyone telling that a government has the right or should block any website on the internet. Anything that is done in terms of censorship is bad, EVERYTHING, no exception. Don't talk to me about special cases such as you know what, and look at what other kind of websites are being blocked by china, thailand or iran and more countries as it becomes the norm.

@annchanon Yes, but you must not let your child on the internet, just like you wouldn't let him in the middle of a random street, once you understand that it's ok. No need to make the street safe (impossible) but rather take care of your child by not letting him alone, easy. Internet is no different, so don't try to get anti-freedom measures dressed up as child protection, this is unfortunately an easy political trick which always work..

Hi alliax. Glad to hear micky was finally banned. Yes it is a sad thing about Thai goverment blocking utube from Thailand.I don't think that is fair to the people.

no that isn't fair at all, but even before youtube was banned, when I was there many websites were banned already, officially it was mostly porn websites, but even then, WHY CENSORING? I don't like nanny states and neither military states!

Thai people are the perfect programmed people on this earth !! They can not ask why? question even cant think it ... The programming procedure starts since they were born. Thats why they live awful a life but they don't do and say anything !! So almost all thais want to go other countries especially Europe,Usa and Australia.. Again most of thai ladies have a dream about getting married with a western husband. Before i was sorry about them but now i am not. Because they get what do they deserve?
