  • Sit back, listen, read the lyrics and think about it. Arrive at a conclusion that suits you and don't let it "mean" one thing.

  • what a beautiful song.

i definitely can relate to the lyrics.

  • @MarkSwags Actually this is a Christian band, seeing as they were at Cornerstone Festival (a Christian music festival) and reached #5 in the Christian charts with Come Now Sleep.

  • @davidEacost Yes it does, since choice requires two POSSIBLE outcomes to pick, if there is only ONE (since it's predetermined), there's the illusion of choice, but people doing things are just acting on what was predetermined, there would only be one possible set of events for the universe to follow.

  • @TheEminentBand

Is there only one valid interpretation of a piece of art/music? Are you one to say his interpretation is meaningless/useless and/or objectively wrong? If they can back up their opinion with reasoning, does it become worthy? If the vocalist ascribed his intention for the album, would that rule out any alternative explanations/interpretations as being of no use?

  • @kilgannon2113

Except JK Rowling actually explicitly writes in the 3rd person.

  • @Thrice23

I'd disagree, I interpret 'god' that he refers to as the truth we each find independent on dogma and religion. By closing your doors, he means that you're closing your mind off to the possibility that the religious beliefs you were brought up with are wrong. The voice through the clouds is a metaphor for how the rest of the universe, which surrounds the earth, calls out to humanity to find out the truth for themselves.

  • @elizabethumanzor

listen to this song again, and also Timothy.

  • Love this band, it really helped me get out of religion and think for myself. Even when all the reasons not to believe are laid out in front of you, you still cling to what you've been brought up to believe, the desperation and inability to find yourself really is moving.

Really stoked that they've recently gotten back together too :')

  • @dotsona07

    this guy gets it

  • Yeah I mean the band is called "as citys burn" lol god must be asleep

  • @MarkSwags Really?? I've been observing their stuff lately, why do you say so that they're not Christian??:o
