The closer history gets to the time of the prophet PBUH the more technologically, economically, and socially superior the Islamic Ummah was to its European counterparts.
Don't just become someone who only studies Islam and nothing else. Islam is a means of GUIDANCE, it only GUIDES you. It is not the destination.

If an Islamic country didn't think about economic prosperity it would be nowhere and the religion wouldn't spread to other parts of the world. In fact, it would be unable to defend itself and be invaded like Palestine.
With his mentality you'd still be educating yourself for money, even if it is for your well being. Don't do it for money, do it for the knowledge.

Excellent lecture on the self destructive properties of the consumer lifestyle. One problem though.
It doesn't give an alternative.

EVERYONE has one, Osama Bin Laden himself is obsessed with horses, that is something he could have made a career out of. Technological advancement is an obligation for Muslims all over the world.
