Exploring the Tanach: The Background of the Tanach

The first in a series of videos exploring the Tanach (Hebrew Bible).

The Tanach the Hebrew acronym formed from the initial letters of the three subdivisions of the text: Torah, Nevi'im, and Ketuvim.

The Torah (the Books of Moses) (תורה) is made up of five books that were given to Moshe Rabbenu (Moses our Teacher) directly from G-d shortly after the Exodus from Mitzraim around 1230BCE.

The Nevi'im (נביאים) covers the time period from the death of Moshe Rabbenu through the Babylonian exile (ca.1200BCE-587BCE) and contains 19 books.

The Ketuvim (כתובם) covers the period after the return from the Babylonian exile (6th century BCE) and contains 12 books.

I am happy that you are finding this videos helpful. I went through the conversion process as well and it is a lot of learning. However, remember that you will always be learning once you become a "member of the tribe".

I have started going to Synagogue and the people are wonderful. I find the fact that Synagogues in the UK have to have security teams on the doors bizare but this is the world we live in.

The learning is one of the things that atracted me. I also have to learn about myself and sort my life out as well.

Yes, the first year we had security during High Holy Days here at my shul in the U.S. was a little disturbing as well.

I feel the same as you. The emphasis on learning, studying, and asking probing questions was a very big "hook" for me to explore Judaism.

@pinkarcticfoxyy ye believe in jesus, because jesus says there is only one God. So true if u place Jesus as a God there is a chance u could go to hell. Hence u r believing in Jesus's message if you believe in One God

im 14 and i was raised in the christian belief, but i want to study the jewish beliefs, im just starting out and i dont know much, if any one could help me that would be great. btw, im a little nervous, because in the christian bible it says if you dont beleive in jesus you go to hell, but i am fastinated with judaism.
