Need help to diagnose engine noise. Car was running smooth & quiet & then engine started making this noise and also running MUCH LOUDER. All fluids checked OK. Noise is coming from the passenger side of the engine (pulley side) Everything tight & no loose or missing hoses. I've thought about a loose pulley of or idler pulley making the 'clinking sound', but why is the engine now so LOUD? Seems to run a bit quieter with the a/c switched on( at about 1:24 on the Video). Anyone with an idea or theory or suggestion on what is wrong or how to fix please e-mail me at: careyfamily@prodigy.net

  • replace the camshaft position sensor, and the camshaft synchronize.

  • its either what the person below me said or its the compressor. it made my engine sound the same and would explain the ticking noise cuz it can be loose or stuck causing the noise when the belt is running on it.

  • You ever diagnosed this? I have the same problem now, it's at a mechanic right now. I beleive it's the AC cluth/pulley. I would assume if you keep driving it the belt will start to smoke like mine did and eventually break the belt. But I'm not mechanic, let me know what it was tho if you find out!
