Pulled my header off to swap out my stock catalyzed midpipe with my arrow midpipe that i just got in today and figured it'd be fun to start it up and rev it a time or two.

Another video will come soon once I get my header and midpipe heat wrapped and the bike all back together for sound. Should be within a week.

  • From what I've read/heard, it's incredibly bad for the bike to do that, even a little bit.

  • I've heard that too, but I personally have never seen any proof of damage from it being done nor have i ever seen anyone come up with any examples. I'm truly curious to what could get damaged due to lack of back pressure. The only thing i could ever conceive happening is having the rings run past the "set in" range of travel (just like if you get into a car with 100k+ miles on it and it's never seen red line, then get in and wind it out causing a ring to shatter)

  • I just removed my header to paint it VHT flameproof black. I had to resist the tempation to fire that baby up like you did, Lol!!

  • very, very, very bad for a modern engine to have to endure that.

  • Yeah... I dono what it would do. Either way it sounds really funny. Did you have extra fun with the garage full of noxious fumes ;)
