Personally, I thought Oban wasnt as good as this. I was expecting a comedy like Wacky Racers meets Star Wars Pod Racers, in full 3D for 26 episodes. But instead we got a drama with too much character development, 2D art (with a bit of 3D thrown in), and hardly any racing whatsoever. ¬_¬

@mewmewfource I'm pleased you enjoyed this anime. Lets face it, all anime is 10 times better than American cartoons. I waited 6 years for this show, so of course I was going to be disappointed with the result. What we got wasnt bad though, just needed (a lot) more action in the racing, and a bit more comedy.

I got it from Pocket Movies but they don't host it anymore. There are a few places that seem to have the video which was re-encoded from a version from Live Evil- but this surely wouldn't be good enough.

The creator, Savin Yeatman-Eiffel wanted to create a distinctive kind of show, one that would revive the type of emotions he had felt as a kid watching the classic Japanese anime series of the 70's. To put it short, he wanted to stress the emotional side of his characters and story, something that he felt had totally disappeared from Western animation productions.

Ah, i forgot, he used this trailer to show, how his (then) new rendering tecnique worked.. (this was a time where 3D animes where not as common as now adays)

and ps, if you look sharp in the trailer you see the errors of the software *gg*

(hint 0:22, her left foot, he blogged about this, saying it was not finished the time he released that video.. )

But sufficed to say, i really like it, great visuals, great music :)

Fun thing is (was) this trailer existed long before the show actually started. The guy who created oban starracer used this trailer to get funds for this show..

It got a lot of people (including me) hyped before any actual content was deliverd..

In these times this video was big on the net, at a time when youtube was just in its infant state...

@misterlaufeyson he was expecting a comedy... of corse he was gonna make a crappy review of it im not really sure what led him to belive it was a comedy e.e but never the less... he did... (no really doode what about it said "comedy"? either way i would imagine, after they wrecked the machine the first few times, it would be apparent that it was made to be alittle more dramatic ._.")

This was the original concept, which somehow got twisted into Oban. Or corrupted. My opinion. :)

I'm kinda indifferent about the series; it was cool to finally see it go from concept to series, but it didn't feel right.
