Live from "The Cactus Cafe" in Austin Texas, Sarah Jarosz performs her title track from her new cd on Sugar Hill Records "Song up in Her Head".
She is joined on Mandolin by Alex Hargreaves
And on upright Bass Samson Grisman.

Sarah is a true spirit and even at her young age is considered one of the top talents. I personally first saw her playing at age 14 with the David Grisman Quintet and was blown away. Luckily I've been in Austin the past few years and have been able to see her grow into major label artist. Her new album "Song up in her head" is a fantastic record with some of the biggest names in bluegrass/acoustic music on it.

Sarah is worthy of all the praise and attention she is given and handles it with the poise of a seasoned veteran. Make sure you support the artists and buy studio releases and go to live shows.

  • I wholeheartedly endorse the support of this incredibly talented young woman and others in her peer group. I bought SJ's album right after hearing her on NPR's APHC in September '09. I drove 350 miles to see her perform in Cambridge @ Lizard Lounge in November. She's a true musical genius and a highly talented instrumentalist. Her compositions are mature, sophisticated, and years beyond her age (18 in 2009). I absolutely adore her and will hopefully see her some more in 2010.

  • alex hargreaves rocks.

  • check out Samson Grisman. is he by any chance related to David?

  • incredible

  • My girlfriend discovered her through NPR and introduced me. As a mandolin player and a guitarist, I struggle to make music this beautiful. I would love to see her live and talk to her afterwards. She's an extremely talented musician and songwriter, and I'll be listening to her music regularly, as I wait for a chance to stand in front of her while she plays. If you check yourself out on YouTube Sarah...keep writing. Keep playing. You're wonderful. ; )

  • NPR brought me here. Well, not here specifically, but they made me search for her on youtube.

  • Like if the Oprah Magazine brought you here ;)

  • She was in my art, and history class. She rocks.

  • wonderful music.
