Barred Owl Comes To Visit

This is a Barred Owl. He dropped by for a visit. It is rare to see one of these birds in the daytime. However, in the spring, they come out in the afternoon looking for mates.
Sorry for the shaking camera. This video wasn't exactly planned and I had no time to grab my tripod.

**Believe it or not - this video was crystal clear and very colorful until YouTube compressed the crap out of it and ruined it!

WOW!! we have some pix from the same type of owl [s] here,,we are nature photo buffs too,,are they not awesome,,all birds!!we get white pelicans here in the midwest as well,during migration,,eagles,hawks,herons­,egrets,and this year a first for our area,one Osprey,and one lone Loon,,which I dearly love and miss..and again,AWESOME music,and scoring,is this hubbys music as well?? I love watching all kinds of wildlife. I live near a lake, so we get alot of ducks,geese,hawks,heron and the owls.

They are very beautiful! You are lucky to have gotten to see one up close.

There is a place about 2 hours from my house,"The NC Raptor Center" - they rehabilitate birds of prey (owls,hawks,eagles,falcons)tha­t have been injured. Some of the birds can't be released so they have them in habitats where you can go see them. I went there before I was a "YouTuber". I want to go back and film the birds. They were awesome! Especially the eagles. I didn't realize they were such huge birds.

Yep,it would have been great to have had my tripod. I'm just glad he stayed around long enough to get a video of him! He had actually been sitting on my back deck and flew up into that tree when I opened the door to let my dog out. I wish I had seen him before I opened the door.
