Nico Schliemann, the second time I met Nico Schliemann briefly at Frankfurt Musikmesse. A really great performance from Nico in the competition and the Karaoke jam sessions really leaves me thinking this guy has got a great future.

Nico was born October 1st 1982 in Engen (that's near the swiss border in south west Germany). He started playing guitar at the age of 10 and quickly switched over to the electric guitar at the age of 13. He also took classical piano lessons from age 14 on.

When he was 15 he decided to take part in the „National Guitar Summer Workshop" in Freiburg, Germany. There he had lessons and Masterclasses with guitar greats such as: Tony MacAlpine (Solo Artist, Steve Vai Band), Matt Smith (Blues guitar player from NYC), Jody Fischer (great Jazz guitar player).

After that workshop he decided to get deeper into music and started to study jazz and popular music at the Freiburg Jazz & Rock-School from 1999 to 2002.

After his studies at Freiburg he moved to Stuttgart to build up a neat little network of people and bands he played and still plays with. Such as: Freistil, Die Dicken Kinder, Soulyla, More the Soul, Elli Erl and many more.

Although Nicos musical roots are based in the Rock and Pop oriented styles he also plays a lot of Jazz and Funk / Soul music no matter if it's live or in the studio.

Nico also works as a professional Music Engraver. He is freelancing a lot for the german AMA-Musikverlag and preparing orchestral scores for composers and publishers around Stuttgart.
