I've never played Q-Bert, but I don't recall seeing anyone jumping off of the side (or dying if they jumped straight up, down, left or right). Is that something that specifically only happens in the 2600 version? I can't imagine the controls enough giving you a 50% chance of dying. That blows.

in every version you can jump off, just most versions aren't this bad. the nes one even lets you pick the controls, which is great
