MG Nanjing has a point to prove when it took over Britain-based MG Rover in July 2005. The Chinese automaker is slowly gaining momentum to relaunch the MG cars made by a Chinese owner for the first time. Chow How Ban reports.
when he says when rover went into liquidation in 2005 and we took this chance to buy the companys assets hahahahahaha more like try to save rover and build everyones hopes up then f++k us over and buy the company after they went bust thanks u f++king t+ats
It may not be a UK company but at least the brand lives on, I can'r wait to see a re-vised ROVER 25/MG ZR or a Replacment model with the CHINESE high qualities !!!
In my experience MGs/Rovers were no more 'shitty' than any Ford, or GM product. On the contrary, they excelled above them in many aspects, namely performance and perceived quality.
The only problem MG Rover had was poor management and a misguided British public shunning them at every turn, as with everything British these days. Sure, the cars were quite badly cost cutted towards the end, but even with this they were still on a par to most in their sales category.
I agree with dknc75 about MG/Rover (although I wouldn't say they were "shitty"), but it wouldn't stop me from owning a rover 75 if i could. Very good looking and luxurious car in my opinion, even if it had a few problems. Also, I would would like to point out that I am american and our country as a whole should be considered arrogant, but most of the people I know are very down to earth and not narrow-minded at all. It bothers me when people claim that all americans are fat, rude, or arrogant.
And I wonder why don't you pull your head out of your own orifice with your narrow-minded American arrogance?
Just what exactly do you know about MG/Rover that the tramp, lanky and small show hasn't told you? Furthermore what bastion of American automotive excellence do you drive? Enlighten me please, because all I can see at the minute is pre-conceived guff.
I see. So you're an MG/Rover owner. I wonder why you don't drive a better car with your astute British wit. And before you masturbate to your own conceptions of the world, this American has driven one overseas (and yes I've seen the Top Gear MG/Rover bashing too). But thank you for proving that there are simpletons on the far left side of the bell curve as yourself, in every culture. So fuck you and your Rover too.
How elloquently-put, you must have have gone to a great length to be able to drive one and come to such a well-founded conclusion in America. And who am I to judge, when you gather your information from such informed and balaced motoring publications such as Top Gear?
Sorry, I'd imagine this to be a bit too high-brow for you, let me bring it to your level; stop spouting dirge you slack-jawed, incestuous fuck-wit.

MG/Rovers were shitty cars when the English made them. Making them anywhere else will be an improvement.
