  • Completly useless the way they demonstrate it ....

It's used for counter ..... not for offense.

But as a counter its one of the most effective moves usable.

  • Eh, ok

  • @ninjalla in all fairness its a very poor demonstration

  • @billysue2 Thank you for your observation. We have so far documented more then 1500 video techniques for the akban wiki. Some of them are lacking and need refilming

It's a watered down trip - Tani Otoshi brings them down with a sit-through... You don't drop your leg to the ground and pull them over it, you slide your leg behind them as you pull them down. For a "judoman" you don't know much about it. Oh, and it's "retarded," retard...

  • If he has the space to take the extra space to step in like he does in the Video then Osoto Gari would be a much more powerful throw with out having to go the the ground.

  • @koreanstyler Absolutely. Sadly I injured myself doing it...and now I can't do it because of that fear.

  • Hey if you guys can do it better post it and quit bitchin :D

  • @koreanstyler

No, tani otoshi is a very powerful offensive movement too, it just requires a good setup.

Take for example any hip throw and the counter is counter-twisting the hips, now if you come strong with a hip throw, the second time your opponent will counter-twist, if you fake a hip throw and immediatly turn tani otoshi your opponent flies.

  • @koreanstyler I use it as both, now I would never do it like he did it but to me the the direct attack version of it can be very very nasty compared to the defensive version of the throw.

  • @ad1693 See how long it takes for him to walk around the other guy?

It's a counter for the standard throws when your enemy is trying to "pull you over his back".

  • @koreanstyler It can be used as an offense or a defense....

  • what everyone is compaining about is the timing is not addressed in this demo...

without proper timing Judo is pretty useless... with proper timing there is little to no defense against judo
