Waiting for a Star to Fall

After the angst fest that was my last Doctor/Rose video, I thought it would be fun to try something a little more upbeat. One of the things I liked the most about the relationship between David Tennant's Doctor and Billie Piper's Rose was that it was, well, fun. There were so many little moments - stray touches, smiles, giggles and jokes between them that I wanted to put all of those into a video to reflect the happiness that Rose seemed to bring to the Doctor's life. So, I thought carefully about a song that would reflect this dynamic of their relationship and I came up with the 1980s cheesy love song Waiting for a Star to Fall. I really love the beat in this song, and the fact that so many of its lyrics seem to reflect the Doctor's love, and yet confusion, about what this human girl is making him feel.

I also had lots of fun with the overlays on this one! Although technically, the "kiss" between Billie and David is when she's acting as Cassandra and not Rose, I couldn't resist including it, and the other scenes from 'New Earth'. I tried to make the "seduction" of the Doctor look like he and Rose just might have been genuinely having a relationship by superimposing them over shots of the Tardis, to create that sense of what might have been going on behind the scenes! I hope you enjoy it :)

love Doctor Who, love this song and love this video.

It so good to see a happy video of the Doctor and Rose together because most Doctor and Rose videos contain the sad clips from Doomsday. When ever I see the part in Doomsday when they are saying goodbye it always makes me cry.

Dear fayzabeam,

You're not the only one who enjoys watching how Rose and the Doctor met, changed each others' lives, and even fell in love. I wish you lots more stuff like this.

P.S. Being a sucker for happy endings, I wonder if there's a variation on this "Waiting For a Star To Fall" video with clips from similarly romantic moments on TV and/or in the movies...say, DIRTY DANCING, THE KARATE KID, AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, PRETTY WOMAN, SUPERMAN, TARZAN, or anything with Corey Haim?

I come back here at least 5-10 times a month and listen to this. Such wonderful memories it conjures up for me about loves gained and loves lost during my teenage years and youth. I can't believe it only reached #5. But it's #1 with me. And such a great video too. It actually brings tears to my eyes for some reason..probably just because I'm a mushball at heart. Great great song.
