  • Does the keyboard send sysex commands to control hardware synths like the sl mkII did? This is important for people who use live as a sequencer for hardware synths. The manual only mentions sysex as a way to update the impulse's os.

  • @tblv9300 Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately this feature is not supported. However it is possible to send program change messages.

  • Can anyone help me understand the difference between this and the SL MK II? Like what are the advantages and disadvantages of both when compared with each other?

  • @Dreadkid08 Impulse is the most recent Novation controller, they both come with Automap and give you extensive DAW/plug-in control. The SL MkII is Novation's flagship controller and is more expensive.

The SL MkII range has an additional 8 pots, more assignable buttons (with LEDs behind the buttons) touch sensitive controls, an even larger LCD display and the speed dial knob. Check out the Novation website for more detailed info.

  • when i'm in software set i dont see any of my music software for me to highlight but underneath in the plug ins i see pro tools... can u help?

  • Why, God, why no 88-key version with weighted piano style keys?

Trigering loops and warping arpegios is fine,

but some of us like weighted keys with great feel to trigger notes, musically,

with detailed sensitivity both in velocity and in aftertouch.

Please Novation, make a 88 weighted key version, too!

  • fuck!! it looks like m-audio.... i hate m-audio

  • Does the novation impulse 49 midi work with fruity loops?

  • How does this compare to the axiom?

  • @NovationTV whens the sl mkiii coming out? i want to know as being a student (broke) and doing music production i need the latest gear but i can't buy it after something recently came out

  • hey, i got the impuls and i was wondering how to change the tempo on the drum pads

  • Door.

  • @Dreadkid08 I picked the Impulse over the SL MkII mainly because the Impulse has 9 sliders and the SL only 8 (I don't get why; seriously: both the Akai MPK and the Novation Remote SL lack the 9th slider which is fundamental for Hammond control). Also, the Impulse has no AC power connector, it's only USB powered (though you can just buy an AC/USB adapter for 10 €).

  • @Moscalicious MIDI keyboards are just controllers, like a computer keyboard. What you need is a synth with MIDI output to suit your needs.

  • So would you have to hook it up to a DAW to get sounds? Or does it already comes with some preloaded out of the box?
