  • take the cotton out of your ears and think about criticizing someone else on this public forum and the possible impact of your words-musicians rely on opinion to obtain work- it's difficult enough for them to stay employed-they don't need people like you making negative comments! if you have nothing positive to say-shut up!

  • LazloLorenzo: I think Greg sounds great here and your comments show you know nothing about music and even less about respect for musicians and the impact your statements may have. You want to have opinions? Keep them to yourself or with your jive buddies, not in this public forum like you're some kind of authority.

I think this sounds awesome, FWIW.

  • To all of you who didn't like Gregs playing !!!

Can you do any better than that ?

If it was not soulful enough for you, try this on You Tube: Bunky Green "Body & Soul".

With Bunky being the master of the ceremony (he must be 76 or so by now), Greg does his part, so as Stefano (Di Batista). All of them top notch alto players in their own rights. I suggest, be thankful that you have the previlage of living in such a wonderful time. The time of Trudy, Bunky, Greg.......the list goes on.

That's cool Lou is whatever. He got his opinion, you got yours and I got mine. But dont come off like you know me by my statement. I think what Lou said in this case was true. But these are just our opinions...And on another note there is no singular concept of soul. Being soulful is something everyone with one should project. I can can hear soul in an indian playing on a raga, or in Robert johnson playing the deep delta blues,or in Willie Nelson. Comparitively Greg aint that great.

  • @videolover61 Lou Donaldson was notorious for clowning on everyone, that meant he was cool with you. I would know because I've studied with numerous people who are close to Lou. And sorry to say on top of that but as much as I love and respect Lou Donaldson, hes a wonderful player but he went from being a bird clone to a sell out bugaloo player. And the concept/definition of "soul"? Didnt realize there was a singular definitive explanation for it, you must know it and are obviously so "soulful".

  • Now Trudy is so soulful. I loved her with rahsaan Roland Kirk...great smile too...

  • What I love here is that with all the playing that these 2 incredible musicians have played..they still are coaxing originality from each other!I believe some people prefer a more non-improvised feeling by the nature of some of the comments...Great Jazz still lives and We can still actually to hear new music..from time to time..:)RIP Trudy Pitts!

  • @NAFTALI2

I have to agree with you there bro. Greg ain't never been a soulful player. Lou Donaldson said to him "man you from St.Louis you supposed to be playing more horn then that!" LOL

  • Love every second!

  • not his greatest playing but who the hell can top themselves every night(what sort of dummy would demand such a thing is a better question). he played what he wanted to hear floating over trudy's spirited piano romping.... and i liked toxic and hit me baby one more time. really intoxicating stuff.
