what are the white tanks in front of the tractor? is it only ballast?

they have liquid starter fertilizer in them for the seed potatoes.

and how do you work it in? is there a tube back to the planter or something else?

there is a pump on the tractor that sends it though a tube to the planter. then the line splits to each row unit with check valves to keep the rate right. the monitor on the right side of the cab is how you contol your rate also.
