While I believe there is room for reasoned debate about all energy sources, I feel that mountain top removal is an abomination that must be stopped.

You small minded moron - all the folks I know, that are not WV residents, that protest what you loosely call mining are originally from WV!! I want to retire to the mountains I love, not the toxic plateaus you are creating! I knew every creek, peak and valley of the county I grew up in, now, it's getting harder to recognize with every visit home! Your attitude won't allow for the possibility to even discuss alternatives 2 this destruction! When theres nowhere left to hunt or fish, sorry 4 u!

Need to whip all treehuggers with a hose.

The alternative is to mine coal responsibly underground and develop cleaner burning coal technologies as well as pursuing other clean renewable energy resources. NO MORE PERMANENT MASS DESTRUCTION OF MTNS! -- a WVian.
I was born in Pikeville, KY. My family lived in Appalachia for centuries. I have family members buried on mountains just like these. It's one of the most ancient ranges on the planet with an incredibly rich habitat, and it's being destroyed. Forever. Future generations will curse us for this if we allow it to go on.
