A brief and inspiring slide show from Heart Feather's 2007 shamanic retreat to Peru. Includes a beautiful icaro (song sung during ayahuasca ceremonies) to a mermaid (sirena) sung by Javier Arévalo Shahuano and photography by the founder of Heart Feather, Dr. Richard Grossman.

  • Yes, I read your dissertation. Quite well done. You are fortunate to be learning from Javier. One of the great voices and hearts in the Amazon.

  • Hi - I have just found this - I am one of Javier's apprentices and have written about him in my dissertation "Ayahuasca Curandero" - you can download it via my blog at simonralli - com. I was taught this icaro but different words by Javier (which are in one of the appendices). My dissertation has a description of me sining the icaro and helping in the healing of a patient of his. This is one of Javier's many beautiful icaros.

  • Love it Just everything about it thanks Richard

  • Javier, beautiful, precious soul, for some reason given to a world that still has to understand the immense love he is spreading around. A true shaman.

Like you all, I was astounded by his generosity and cured by Mother Ayahuasca through his infectious joy of living. He thought me how to play the schapaca and sing this very icaro,(and many more!), he taught me how to prepare ayahuasca, and made all my ceremonies so much more intimate and personal.

The best shaman in the Amazon!!!

  • Well done! Thanks!
