becomming a janissary was more like an ultimate priveledge than slavery. There was actually parents in the balkans who revolted because their sons were considered unfit for becomming a jannissary. This video kind of makes it look like that parents were incredibly heart broken for "loosing" their sons.The truth is more that they were proud, because as a jannissary you were destined for valour.Neglected in most of todays historical sources, but as the english say, history is written by the victors
