Such sad footage. This year has been tough on people, and so strange. It can't help but make a person wonder what the future has in store and if we've passed a point of being able to effectively respond. We live in mind-boggling times, on so many levels.

First of all, sorry I didn't understand that 'adapt' was referring to the sarcastic talking EXXON person. I agree with you that any 'simple solutions' will make all worse.

My main critique with your comment, is your pessimistic 'conclusion'. In many european countries, solar energy is getting affordable. You are playing into the hands of the oil industry by saying that any improvement will lead to "the end of western life". THAT is what I meant being inconsistent.

GJD, your 'rap' is even less consistent. Europe came out of the denial phase in the late nineties, but their 'adaption' is something quite different then what this EXXON guy keeps suggesting. So what exactly is your point?

Your rap is not consistent. Europe HAS adapted 10 years ago. And they have gotten through the global financial crisis a whole lot better than USA and China.

Adapting has ALWAYS been the way to go in the process of evolution. The meek have already survived the dinosaurs long, long ago! And they will keep doing so.

Well, using Exxon ceo is a paper tiger. We are faced with an engineering problem. How do we stop using fossil fuels, stop population growth, and switch to another system before we all die?

Where's the part where someone's denying climate change? The guy saying, "We'll adapt to that." ad nauseum isn't denying it.

So what's the point of this? For everybody to start sobbing and wringing their hands?
