L.A.*S NEWEST ADVANCED IMAGING CENTER HOUSES NEW GE 64-SLICE PET/CT
AND 3T MRI IN SPA-INSPIRED ENVIRONMENT

(Los Angeles, Calif. - March 6, 2009) - Los Angeles Advanced Imaging,
L.A.*s newest diagnostic imaging center, offers advanced technology
that enables physicians to provide more accurate diagnoses earlier,
often resulting in better outcomes for patients.

On the campus of White Memorial Medical Center in Boyle Heights, Los
Angeles Advanced Imaging combines the comforts of a spa -- including
serene colors, soft lighting, and a bubbling fountain -- with excellent
medical expertise, exceptional service and two of the most sophisticated
pieces of diagnostic imaging equipment found anywhere -- a 64-slice
PET/CT and a 3T MRI.

*With this latest technology, physicians can offer painless
alternatives to invasive procedures and detect disease earlier, when
treatment is more likely to succeed,* said Edward Gabriel, MD,
Diagnostic Radiologist and Medical Director of Los Angeles Advanced
Imaging. Additionally with the new technology, physicians can:

Pinpoint the location of a tumor, determine whether it is cancerous,
what stage it is in and how aggressive it is
Survey the whole body for cancer that may have spread
Plan precise surgeries or radiation treatments
More clearly assess breast health
Monitor the success of cancer therapy
Scan the entire heart in one brief breath-hold to assess heart attack
damage and locate blockages
Offer cardiac CT with up to 70% less radiation exposure
Diagnose brain and nervous system conditions
Perform quick, accurate cartilage assessments
Get answers faster, with exams as brief as 30 minutes

*As other hospitals are reducing services, we*re proud to be able
to offer this higher level of service to our community and the Greater
Los Angeles region,* said Beth Zachary, FACHE, president and CEO of
WMMC. *We can do this thanks to the continued support from our donors
and community leaders.*

The GE Signa 3.0T MRI is the most powerful scanner on the market. It
provides clearer, more precise images that show previously undetectable
details, at scan times that are 35-45 percent faster than its
predecessors. Patients need only half the dose of contrast dye (given to
differentiate tissue types on the MRI image). The machine has a generous
opening and full field of view for more comfortable patient exams, which
means fewer rescans are needed because the patient moved during the
scan.

The GE Discovery PET/64-slice CT combines two powerful technologies --
volume computed tomography (VCT) and positron emission tomography (PET).
The 64-slice CT scanner uses X-rays to take credit-card-thin
pictures-called *slices.* A computer combines the pictures to form a
three-dimensional image. The PET scanner provides information about the
metabolic activity of tissue. Cells with higher-than-normal metabolism,
such as tumor cells, appear as bright area-or *hot spots*- on the
images. Both CT and PET images are combined into a single picture, with
unmatched clarity and diagnostic information.

With other systems, comparing PET and CT images is difficult, since the
images are taken at different times using different scanners. Because
patients are not in identical positions for both scans, the two images
don*t match exactly. By fusing images-taken at the same time-from both
scanners, this system yields pictures that are clearer, more detailed,
more accurate and more meaningful.
