So here is the footage of how leaf collection is done here in Walla Walla.

Every fall, yard waste service ends in November and doesn't start again until March. During that time, the only yard waste is leaves, which the city picks up for free even if you aren't signed up for yard waste cart service. So starting at the end of October, everyone starts piling their leaves out in huge piles on the street, hoping they don't blow back in their yard while they wait for this crew to come around.

I'm not sure how old the tink claw is, but if I remember right, this White WXLL/Leach 2RII is a 1988.

Enjoy the footage!

  • After watching this... I now understand why the city would pay for modified/extra equipment to collect leaves like this. I couldn't imagine collecting all this if it was bagged and the amount of leaves that loader could pick up in one scoop is pretty impressive.

  • Yeah, they said that my neighborhood here has the most leaves in all of the city. They packed out from just my street alone! The rest of town has a lot of leaves too, just not quite in this magnitude!

  • nice video

  • Thank you!

  • its a wonder that truck could ever pack-out as slow as that blade moves!

  • WOW! I have NEVER seen sooooooo many leaves!

  • That is a lot of leaves!

  • Wow very entertaining operation! Now I think this is more efficient and useful for leaves than it is for bulk waste, in a city with this many leaves this works well. I wonder where they got that spill shield thing from for the RL...seems like it never is packing though since it's like the slowest Leach I've seen LOL...is that the same truck you first filmed doing recycle? 5/5 man!!

  • Our town uses a vacuum truck for the main roads which is cool because the vacuum hose is controlled by a remote control. However, they use a tink claw to pick up our leaves and load them into dump trucks before a street sweeper picks up what is left.

  • Wow, that is a lot of leaves!!!! Great footage! Love the tink Claw, and the Modified RL!!!! That looks like an older style Tink Claw compared to the ones I have here. 5 and fav!!!

  • Your Welcome!
