this is a split-screen 2 x "640x180" fractal zoom.
rendered to show the difference between aliased vs anti-aliased fractal rendering after web compression.

you can download the original video file here
http://www.vimeo.com/17158672
it is in mp4 format h264 lossless compression @ 32768 kb sec

conclusion

anti aliasing improves the quality of the picture by allowing you to see more detail and depth within the fractal, however after web compression a lot of the fine detail revealed by anti aliasing is lost and the resulting areas look mushy. around 0:49 is a prime example of the typical level of detail where you start to get the mush - although you can still see further into the fractal at this point.

  • well, I actually think that the aliasing doesn't look too bad, and the anti-aliasing takes much longer...I know the video format messes up the anti-aliased version by giving it the equivalent of blurring, so its hard to tell

  • @SMWssaamm well this was rendered to test how they compare after web compression. I have put a link in the video description if you want to download and compare this version to the original.

  • Watch from 30 secs to end then look right away at the comments, trippy as hell. Video looks like you are getting closer then comments look like they are warping away

  • for some reason aliasing look better lol i like that sharp effect

  • alrght how do i back out now

  • @GiftedGreedy That is a well known fractal called Mandelbrot set...

  • I have heard that by turning aliasing of in games, you can improve framerates alot. And espescially if you have low vram. Im gonna buy a new computer with a graphic card of 1gb ddr5, does anyone know how this will affect when playing 1920x1080 on a 21.5 monitor. Im talking about games like bf3.

  • wow that was amazing

  • ahhh it is like a acid trip

  • he zoomed to his cock xD
